Film Screening of ‘Valley of Sighs’

Between 1943 and 1945, 25 000 Romani people were deported to Transnistria. Only half of them survived due to hunger, cold and other causes. Seventy years later, this powerful documentary tries to reconstruct the journey, places and tragic experiences of the past.

In Holocaust Memorial Week, we believe this powerful documentary remembers a forgotten genocide from the Second World War.

Professor Rainer Schulze of the University of Essex will give an introduction to the film and film maker Mihai Andrei Leaha will lead a Question and Answer session afterwards.
