Ederlezi 2013 – the Gypsy Spring Festival that celebrates Life

The London Gypsy Orchestra brings to London the magic of Ederlezi.

“Ederlezi” is the Romany Gypsy word that defines the mid-Spring festival, the time of the year when Nature awakens and rises again from the bitter winter colds. It is a feast of fresh water and fire, of heat replacing cold, of opposites completing and complementing each other, of synergy and unification, the coming together of all Elements for the regeneration of Life.

Ederlezi is a pan-European feast, and it still marks a cardinal date in South-Eastern European cultures. Joyful and colourful music is an indispensable element for this energetic and vivacious celebration of the resurgence of Life and Nature.

This year the 45-piece London Gypsy Orchestra, the biggest ensemble of its kind in Western Europe led by virtuoso violinist Gundula Gruen, celebrates this event with a musically and visually stunning evening performance on one of the best folk music stages in UK.
