Redbridge Local Authority – Celebrating GRTHM June 2012

Redbridge Schools and Redbridge based organisations are celebrating GRTHM. The aim is to raise awareness and celebrate the rich traditions of culture and history of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities through sharing information, music, dance, stories and curriculum learning.

  • Gypsy Roma Traveller history and culture photograph display – June 2012
  • Film – Be Roma or die trying – 15mins, made by and featuring Roma young people
  • Film – Into the West97mins, An award winning film about two Irish Traveller boys whose mother dies and their adventures with a white horse which turns their life with their father around

Both films are on 20th June 4.15pm and 4.30-6 pm

Circus skills, as part of The New Teachers/ Drama Centre Open Day Saturday 23rd June 2-6pm

Roma Support Group – Roma culture and history workshops and assembly.

  • Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month

    GRTHM started in Brent in 2001. With endorsement from Parliament in 2007 GRTHM went national in 2008 and is now celebrated throughout the UK each June.
