MUSIC TRAINEE WANTED

For a music and dance project exploring Gypsy Roma and Traveller culture

Connections is a music education project, funded by Youth Music, exploring Gypsy Roma and Traveller cultures through creative music workshops.  The aims of the project are:

  • to offer an opportunity for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children and their families to see their culture recognised and celebrated in school, creating a positive school environment.
  • to encourage intercultural understanding and interaction between people of Gypsy Roma and Traveller heritage and the wider community.
  • to create opportunities for professional, amateur and aspiring musicians from different musical traditions to collaborate, create and perform together.

We need a music trainee to assist on this project.  The trainee will work closely with professional musicians, and gain experience in delivering music education projects .  They will be required to attend 12 workshop sessions, and be given a fee of £21 per session.

  • Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month

    GRTHM started in Brent in 2001. With endorsement from Parliament in 2007 GRTHM went national in 2008 and is now celebrated throughout the UK each June.
