Gypsy Fiddle Feast

For the first time, violin virtuosi Gundula Gruen and Ricardo Marek Czureja appear together on stage with their bands. The charismatic quintet Tatcho Drom join forces with the Romany Diamonds, an extravagant Gypsy family band.

For both bands, playing music means going beyond the boundaries of a genre. Mixing traditional Eastern European folk themes with jazz and classical influences is their way of exploring and expressing their diverse cultural heritages. Their performances combine effortless skill and inspired ingenuity to create a rousing music in which melancholy and humour exist side by side.

For the audience, a vibrant feast of adventurous musical arrangements, perilous tempi and unusual playing techniques is on the menu, an escape into a world where the past meets the present, and the reality plays with the imagination.

“Bavarian-born violinist Gundula could well have been raised in the Balkans, for her playing imparts the true soul of Gypsy music, full of colour and passion, an explosion of energy…” (Vesti News, Serbian Diaspora Newpaper)
